We needed to consolidate vehicles. In addition to the daily drivers, we had an MGB that fed the convertible lover in us (when it was last running a few years ago). We also had a Nissan KingCab 4x4 that allowed us to get off-road. We decided on a 2 for 1. The only 4wd convertibles I could find were the Land Rover Defender 90 and a Wrangler. Wrangler it is... We started by thinking we would find one with 40-50k miles on it, but after talking to friends and relatives with Wranglers, we decided we would definitely get a TJ as opposed to a YJ in order to have a better ride on the road. We scanned the classifieds and scoured the internet only to find that depreciation on a late model Wrangler was not enough to knock the price down significantly. This led us to the dealership, where we drove some 2000s and eventually a 2001 model. We were sold! We found a 2000 that was almost perfect but we ended up walking from the dealership when they employed "typical" car sales tactics. We asked for their best price, and after the third trip to the manager, we'd had enough. We decided to order a 2001 and get it exactly like we wanted.
I'll attempt to provide useful info on these pages. Please check the mods and ordering sections for more information. I will periodically update the review and photo pages, so check back for updates and new comments.
